wunderbares buch, schick gelayoutet, alle wichtigen illustratoren (die ich zumindest erwartet hab) sind dabei. einfach zum durchblättern und inspirieren lassen, vor allem was die verschiedenen techniken angeht!
Am auffälligsten sind beim ersten Blättern die Vielfalt der Stile, die ins Auge springt, und die Qualität der ausgewählten Bilder, gleich ob digital oder per Hand gezeichnet: Hier finden sich wilde Gesichtskollagen und feine Strichzeichnungen ebenso wie Ölgemälde, flächige Pop-Art-Poster oder bunte Acrylschöpfungen, fotorealistische Werke und ganz und gar abstrakte.Nach einem Vorwort von Herausgeber Julius Wiedemann und einer kurzen Einleitung von Steve Heller geht es los mit den einzelnen Künstlern, die alphabetisch nach ihrem Nachnamen aneinandergereiht sind - von Henrik Abrahams bis Paul X. Johnson - und die jeweils auf drei Doppelseiten eine Auswahl an Porträts präsentieren. Die Bilder stehen fast für sich; jeder Abbildung sind allerdings als zusätzlich Information der Titel, Erscheinungsjahr und -ort und die Technik bzw. das Werkzeug oder Programm, mit dem das Bild erstellt wurde, angegeben. That's a lot of different styles to check out, much more than I imagined. The selection is really diverse and the quality high. It's quite an impressive feat collecting them into this handsome volume.The portraits are created in all sorts of medium, including sculptures. There are watercolour, oil, vectors, digital paintings, etc.This should be a particularly useful reference for illustrators who draw portraits regularly, especially for editorial publications.(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Dieses Buch ist wirklich ein Traum! Es sind so viele tolle Portraits enthalten, dass man ewig darin blättern kann. Für Künstler bietet es auch unendlich viele Anregungen. Ein wirklich rundum gelungenes Buch!
Great book. It's so big not in size but girth. It's about 570 pages of various styles of modern day portraiture. If you love art, modern, pop and surrealism of various styles you'll love this book. Just looking at the pictures I had to view it through a few sittings.and i still seem to find things i missed earlier. Filled with great artist and illustrators and plenty of celebrity portraits also.
